I believe that we are all born with a purpose in life. An astrologer once told me that mine was to share and spread beauty. This made sense to me, as I have known since childhood that I wanted to be a fashion designer. The act of creating and sharing beautiful things – such as paintings, drawings or dresses – has always provided me with a sense of fulfillment. And in difficult times, it offered relief from my depression.

After college I moved to New York to pursue my career in fashion. I imagined I would finally feel great – I was following my passion and feeding my creative core. But over time I came to realize that the other parts of me needed nurturing as well. I needed balance to thrive.

While I understand that my life will never be in perfect balance, I now take steps to care for all the aspects of my being, and I have never felt better. I rediscovered running and found strength I didn’t know I had in my body – I even ran my first marathon. I receive acupuncture to maintain physical and emotional harmony. I practice yoga to stretch and calm my body. And I am passionate about nutrition and love creating healthy meals.

Through these practices I finally feel vibrant and alive, and ready to share another type of beauty: healthy living. It is my hope that this blog will help you find new ways to add beauty to your own life.

Life can get complicated. I think it’s time to get back to basil.
